New Year's Eve!!!

We spent New Year's eve by going out for linner (in between lunch and dinner) at the Chinese Gourmet restaurant with Klint and Michelle, our dear friends. We met at 3:30 p.m. and stayed there just having a good time eating and talking until 5:30.
You see them on the photo with us that was taken on 12 December 2008.
After leaving Klint and Michelle we went home and phoned Doug to come and join us for the rest of the evening.
We had fun watching some movies and snacking.
Hope your New Year will also be a great one!!!

Vance at Work from Home

As you can see, on the 2nd photo, Vance does not have very much room on the computer desk that he has in our office, that’s why we set up a table in our front living room in front of the fireplace.

We don’t use the fireplace as it takes wood to burn in there. We would have used it if it was a gas fireplace.

The second photo is Vance typing up the things he had worked out at the table in the living room. He is quite happy to work from home. He has all the things he needs here.

During the Christmas holidays, we had FM 100 playing their 100 hours of Christmas music on in both the office and lving room stereos.

Shoveling all that snow

We had at least 10 inches (25 cm) of snow fall during evening and night. We got home from my brother's at 4 p.m. on Christmas day when we shoveled what had fallen during that day and after breakfast this morning, 26 December 2008, when we measured how much snow we had received since then.

On the first photo you can see Vance taking a little break. The 2nd one shows him busy shoveling the entrance of our driveway. You can see how the footpath of the neighbors on the other side of the street.

The 3rd photo shows how deep it was on the footpath leading to our frontdoor. And there is me with the shovel in hand. I did help some, but Vance did the most of it.

You can also see the back of my car in the garage and a corner of Vance's little black truck.

White Christmas

I've enjoyed watching the pear tree during these last few months from having pears in it to this one with no leaves and the snow falling. You can also see the neighbor's house on the other side of the canal that runs between our back fence and their back fence. There are always so many leaves on our trees and shrubs and theirs and the other neighbors.

Here is a photo of our grandchildren showing off their Christmast gifts from us with their Uncle Doug looking on. This was taken on Christmas eve.

Another photo of our backyard, snowing and with snow taken today, 25 December 2008.

This photo of our house was taken just as we were off to my brother's for Christmas Dinner. So you can see we had a white Christmas.

Best wishes for a happy and healthy NewYear!

5 more days later

I tried to capture the pear tree and nearly did. I stood on our small back deck to take it. As you can see the colors are beautiful and there are lots of leaves on the ground.
Taken 7 November 2008

10 days later - same view

Taken 2 November 2008, same view as before except there are some leaves that have fallen off and most of the remainder have changed their color

1995 Ford Taurus

We no longer have the Green Ford Taurus. Greenie met with an accident on Friday 31 October while we were on our way to meet some friends to celebrate a birthday. If you need to see the photo a bit bigger, double click on it.
As you can see the front all got bashed in. The Hood wouldn't come up any more, etc. We took the car to the Insurance Assessor and the repair would be $2,500 whereas the car was only worth $1,800 so it became a TOTAL LOSS.

We will put the money for the car aside for when we want to replace our Saturn 1995 SL2 for a newer vehicle.

No one was hurt.

Our Second Snow of the Season

Our 2nd snow of the season. I had forgotten that we had some snow in September. That sure was too early to be counted don't you think???
We arrived home from Albany, NY, by car driving along the I 80 for a long haul of it, when we were hit by snow in Wyoming. WIth the big trucks driving past you can't see the road for a while until they have gone past. This happened at least twice while I was driving and I was hoping that I wasn't going off the road.
Anyway, I was impressed by the yellow pears still being on the tree in our backyard that I took these photos. I first took the photo of the backyard then took the photo of the pear tree.
Enjoy the photos!!

No more Welcome Wagon

We were on vacation in Albany, NY, when we heard that our cat Pesto had not been home for 2 days. The next-door neighbor was taking care of her for us and collected our mail as well. Pesto hadn't been well for a couple of days. Well.... what can you expect with a cat that is at least 17 years old. We have loved her and taken good care of her. She had a good home with us.

We will miss her as the was the best watch cat out. She would watch anybody coming past our house and always came to greet us.

I've started our blog

It seems so easy, so I decided to just have a try to get one set up. I will add things to it from time to time, and especially when we have gone on trips.
